Liebster Award Nomination
I was given the huge honor of being nominated for this Liebster Award by the one and only, endearing, talented, thoughtful, witty, well-read, most giving blogger – Rory of A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip I can never say enough wonderful things about this man and his blog. He is tireless, even though he sometimes talks about being tired. I feel lucky to have come across his blog and gotten to know him a little. If you don’t know his blog (I find that impossible…but) please go check it out. He has something for everyone! And get ready for his “The Blogger’s December Challenge” .

The origins of this award are as follows:
“This award is meant to encourage new bloggers. From The Global Aussie:“The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.” The award initially focused on bloggers with less than 2000 followers, but as its popularity increased this number has gone down to 200.”

Rory’s Questions:
1
Are you happy with the person:
1] You are
I’m extremely happy with the person I am now. There are always things to improve upon, like not worrying so much about the little things. I could work out more. I could try a little harder to do charitable things or be a better role model. All in all, I am proud of who I have become.
2] You were
I was not really happy with the person I was when I was in bad relationships. Being with the wrong people (spouses, boyfriends/girlfriends, friends in general, work colleagues) can suck the life out of you and make you get away from your own convictions.
3] You think you will become?
I think that I will continue to be happy with who I am and who I will become because I have wonderful people in my life and I have the wisdom (with age) to know which people to surround myself with and which ones to get away from.

How many colours can you see in the image below, list them in detail.
Okay, Rory, this is just mean! Did you choose this on purpose because you know I’m color blind?? I see about 5 shades….of….??? I think there’s a green, a blue, and some grays that might be shades of brown or red.

Is there anything within five feet of where you are currently typing that is a permanent feature and motivates you to explore your mind deeply?
Umm, the television?? I explore my mind all the time when I’m watching it and I ask myself “do people really watch these types of shows?” “how can ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ be on all day long? Who watches it all day long? Who cares? Why are we (probably mostly Americans) so infatuated with reality tv when it’s anything but reality?

How many vices do you have and of them which are your worst?
Let’s see: Coffee – I must have coffee. Good coffee. I love everything about it. The taste – bitter with hints of fruit or chocolate or cereal notes, mixed with the sweetness of maple syrup (yes I sweeten my coffee with maple syrup), and the creamy texture of some frothed almond milk. I love the warmth of the mug in my hands. I love the aroma of a freshly brewed coffee wafting through my kitchen getting me excited for that very first sip. I love the sound of my coffee maker preparing my morning treat, the sound of the liquid hitting the mug, the sound of the steam coming through the frother, hissing gently, the almond milk bubbling, and then the decrescendo as it is finishing. Obviously this is my worst/best vice.
I would say my other “vice” is that I hate leaving my house for anything mundane these days. I don’t like to go grocery shopping so I’ve subscribed to an app where I order my groceries and they are delivered. I get all my household items online through amazon, I detest going clothes shopping so I have joined one of those clubs where you have a stylist send you items and you keep what you want and send the rest back. All I need now is someone to show up and cook my meals before I get home from work.

How curious are you to new discoveries, and first time experiences even if they are possibly dangerous or risky for you to try? As in will you try them, or make an excuse not to?
I am all in for new discoveries and experiences! Life is the ultimate adventure….that is other than buying groceries and going shopping. I rarely turn down an adventure.

If you answered No Way to question 5, what prevents you from doing so?
The only way I say no, is if I think there’s a good chance of getting hurt and not being able to do my job for some amount of time. No work = No money = No more adventures
***
7
If you answered YES Please to question 6, what motivates you to take those risks?
As long as I don’t feel like I’m going to break a bone or die, I am all in for experiencing anything I can. I want to see all that I can see, do all I can do, and when I get to the point in life where I can no longer do such things, I want to be able to look back on my life and be able to say “wow, I did a lot!”

What type of song do you think our banjo player here is playing? Provide a link to what you think it might be as your answer to this question.
Well, I’m not sure what song. When I see banjos I think of bluegrass music. I have a few uncles who were self taught playing guitar and banjo and one of my favorite songs to hear on banjo is Foggy Mountain Breakdown. One of the most famous banjo players was Earl Scruggs. Many people may not know that comedian Steve Martin is also an accomplished banjo player. The man in the photo, playing alone, would probably be playing something a little mellow….or perhaps he’s practicing Foggy Mountain Breakdown. The clip I’m including is from David Letterman of Earl Scruggs and Steve Martin playing together.
8 Random Thoughts
Why do you have to threaten to cancel/quit something before they offer you a better deal?
Why is it when you have tons of things to do, you never have enough time, but when you have lots of time, you have nothing to do?
Why are cats so intrigued with plants?
Why is it when you tell someone you’re color blind they immediately start pointing to things and asking “what color is this?”
Why is it when someone smells something that smells bad, they push it over to you and ask you to smell it? And why do most people go ahead and smell it?? I say “I just saw the face you made when you smelled it, no thanks!”
The Christmas shopping season has begun. Why is it that when you are purchasing items at a chain retailer and they ask for your phone number or email, most people give it to them? I ask why they need it. They usually say they don’t, because it’s just to send you more crap, and move on.
On the topic of Christmas and shopping…I find it completely annoying that those people in the kiosks selling makeup seem to attack me each and every time I walk past one of them. I try not to make eye contact in hopes that I can make it past the danger zone unscathed, but every once in a while they still come after me. And what makes them think I want them touching my face with their dirty hands that have touched how many other people? There’s no sink there for them to wash their hands. And what makes them think I want their product on my face? You literally have to be like your boxing, with the duck and under move, to dodge their catapulting fingers!
My last random thought for this award: French Charming and I just celebrated our 2nd Anniversary for being PACS (you can read what that is by clicking the link). If anyone out there thinks love is unattainable, be patient. It really does happen when you least expect it to, and you really do know when you meet “the one”.
My Nominees:
*As I always state, if I have nominated you, you are in no way obligated to participate fully, partially, or in any way. Please just know that I enjoy your blog and want others to enjoy it as well.
Life Lessons From Around the Dinner Table
My Questions For My Nominees:
- Is there a famous person you strive to be like? Style, accomplishments, attitude
- What is the craziest color your hair has been? Was it an accident or on purpose? How old were/are you? (add a pic if you have one!)

3. As the holidays are around the corner, do you have a favorite decoration? Where did you get it and how long have you had it?
4. Who has been the biggest influence in your life in regards to how you celebrate the holidays?
5. What was the worst holiday disaster you’ve experienced?
6. Are you a “Black Friday” shopper? If yes, explain your strategy. If no, how do you do your holiday shopping?
7. What place of business do you frequent so often they know you by name? (besides where you or a spouse works)
8. What kind thing has a stranger done for you recently? Did you pay it forward?
XOXO

I had to spend some time in hospital – same old same old. But I am glad to have time today to rest before work tomorrow.
Thank you…must not worry, just one of those things.

American here and I do NOT find ‘reality’ TV worth a toss. In fact it’s rare that I watch TV any more because all the danged shows are ‘reality’…which is too boring and too fake for this ol’ gal.
